With more and more widespread application of wood-based panels, the demand by various users of the wood-based panels for better quality is raised appropriately. Of the indicators to measure the quality of wood-based panel products, the precision and deviation of the thickness of the wood-based panel occupies an important position, the thickness of the wood-based panels greatly impacts the mechanical properties, and it can directly control the bending strength of the wood-based panels and are directly related to the production energy and raw material consumption.This paper mainly researches the on-line detection system of wood-based panel thickness, on the base of the comprehensive evaluation of various thickness detection technology, through the analysis of the wood-based panel thickness detection technology for various sectors of the wood-based panel thickness deviation, designs and researches for a species of wood-based panel thickness detection system, which achieves continuous real-time online detection of wood-based panel thickness to guarantee the panel products quality and enhance enterprise efficiency and has great practical significance.According to the characteristics of wood-based panel production process through the analysis of the sheet thickness control, based on the online-contact measurement to determine the overall scheme of the grating displacement sensor for the detection of the core of the wood-based panel thickness detection system, the detection and control system are designed and researched.This paper mainly designs and researches the hardware system of wood-based panel thickness detection system, analyses the characters of different displace sensors and determines the linear encoder as the detection unit. Based on the control of wood-based panel thickness detection requirements, the detection processes are designed. The S7-300CPUS14type PLC is determined as the main control unit of the detection system and the system composition and working principle is introduces.Based on the Windows operation system, the wood-based panel thickness detection system designed is used to detect different thickness wood-based panels and the detection interface is designed for real-time display with the programs of software STEP7. In order to get the more accurate result, in the part of data processing using digital filtering method and digital fusion method.According to the existing experimental condition, the experiment scheme is determined with the fiberboard as experimental samples with multiple times analysis on the uncertainty of the experimental and the uncertain of data obtained in experiments. The system can be done accurately, real-time, on-line thickness and deviation detection of wood-based panels. The results can be feedbacked to the front end of the control sysrem. It can control and improve the quality of wood-based panel products effectively and has important practical value in production.
