With the continuous development of glass deep-processing technology in China in recentyears, the kinds of glass coating is increasing constantly. The function of the products ischanged from original decoration to energy saving and environmental protection and so on,and the application field is converted from construction to new energy and IT industrygradually. Glass vacuum coating is a kind of way by depositing one layer or multi-layer thinfilm on glass’ surface in order to change some property of the glass. By changing reflectanceand absorption of infrared and ultraviolet of the glass to make it have the function of energy-saving or environmental protection, or by depositing particular material to have the propertyof conductivity, self-cleaning, or decoration and so on.The paper research is studied based on a glass vacuum coating production line of acompany.After a deep research of the process characteristics and the control system of thecoating production line based on vacuum magnetic sputtered technology, a control system isdesigned using Siemens S7-400PLC as the control core of the Glass Vacuum CoatingProduction Line, and a DCS network structure for the control system is set up. The PCmonitoring interface is used to control and monitor the production line.The structure of the control system for the glass vacuum coating production line iscomplex. Various equipments need to be controlled, and a large amount of field data has to bemonitored. So, two CPU modules are used as the core of the whole control system. Thecontrol requirements and control strategies of the control system are described in details inthis paper. The control system of production line mainly includes process control system anddrive control system. Process control system mainly includes control systems for vacuumenvironment, process gas distribution and cathode power. Drive control system is designedfor position and speed control of the glass on the production line, and packet control is for fastoutgoing after glass coating is completed.Control technologies such as DCS Industrial ControlTechnology, PLC Technology and Computer Control Technology and so on are all used forthe design of control system of the production line, combined with Industrial Ethernet andFieldbus PROFIBUS-DP. The monitoring interface can observe each process of productionline. Important parameters can also be adjusted manually on the interface by which the valueof parameters such as vacuum and gas flow rate and so on can be acquired, displayed andrecorded in real time. Mean while, alarm for faults on production line is also appeared when itneeds.At present, flourishing emerging of China’s new industries as well as higherenvironmental requirements on construction materials make glass coating have very broaddevelopment and application, which make the design of the control system for the glass vacuum coating production line,for the purpose to improve the structure, physical andchemical properties, function of the film, have an important realistic significance. The designof the control system for the production line can meet control requirements, effectivelyimprove production efficiency, and reduce labor intensity and production costs, which makethe control system have significant economic benefits.
