Microwave transceiver has been widely used in a variety of modern electronicsystems, it has been applied not only in the system of emergency communications,water conservancy and meteorological monitoring, traffic scheduling, financialsecurities, but also plays an important role in the field of phased array radar, electronicwarfare and defense. As one of the important modules to determine the key performanceof electronic equipment, microwave transceiver’s status has been significantly improved;meanwhile the technical requirements of the transceiver are getting higher and higher,with characteristics of high frequency, wide bandwidth, small size, low powerconsumption etc.This thesis briefly introduced the implementations, the working principle and theinternal structure of the receiver technology, the transmitter and frequency synthesistechnique.At the same time, the heterodyne, zero-IF and near-zero IF technology usedin transmitter uses, the direct analog synthesis, direct digital synthesis, indirect analogsynthesis and indirect digital synthesis used in local oscillator are comparative analyzed.Limited by the frequency of zero-IF technology, it is difficult to be applied in thehigh frequency applications, so this issue adopted the superheterodyne system. Takinginto account the high IF frequency in transceiver for farther deviated from the desiredsignal combination, the interferenc easily e generated by its mirror frequencies andfrequency conversion can be suppressed by filters, therefore, Ku-band receiver andtransmitter use single-conversion scheme. Compared with double-conversion,single-conversion scheme has simpler circuit, fewer devices, higher reliability, smallersize, lighter weight, and lower power consumption. Using digital PLL to achieve thelocal oscillator, it has small size, low power consumption and low spur.Using above methods, this topic Ku-band transceiver is designed. The scheme andmain technical indicators is demonstrated in the paper, a specific circuit design methodand the final test results are given. The technical specifications of the product can meetthe system requirements. Finally, the product design and engineering debuggingexperience are concluded.
