Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology belongs to the category ofautomatic identification technology, which uses electromagnetic coupling principle totransmit information in space. RFID is a revolutionary technology as it can recognizethe information of electronic tag chip by non-contact. At present, RFID technology hasbeen widely used in many fields of manufacture and our life. As RFID technologybecoming more and more mature, people’s life must be changed profoundly.The research background of this dissertation is the practical application of theintelligent management of storage and logistics. The reader which works in ultrahighfrequency (860MHz~960MHz) has the characteristics of long communication distance,fast data transmission rate, batches reading. The reader that based on embedded systemas the control platform can achieve the requirements of miniaturization and low cost.Therefore, as the actual demand of application, this dissertation designs a ultrahighfrequency RFID reader that based on embedded system.Firstly, the dissertation introduces the concept, development process, currentapplication and technical characteristics of RFID, summarizes the technology problemof RFID and gives the content arrangement. Secondly, the structure of RFID readersystem and the working principle of RFID system are introduced. Due to this designingreader based on ARM embedded system, the composition and characteristics of ARMembedded system are introduced. On this basis, the whole system design scheme isgiven. Thirdly, the hardware and software of the design system are expoundedrespectively. At hardware aspect, each part circuit design of embedded system S3C6410and PCB routing design is introduced. At software aspect, the way of downloadsoftware at embedded hardware system is described briefly. Lastly, according to theactual application requirements, the test scenario of the reader is set up. Then, thefunction of system is test, and the corresponding test results are given.
