Skyscrapers and much architecture with strong sense of national style, emerging with the construction of urbanization;symbolize the China’s urban modernization development. However, tall structures may also bring in a range of problems, like high possibilities of potential conflagration, fast spread of fire, failure of in-time evacuation or difficulties in rescue operation, and those problems would make things even worse in event of a real fire. Thus it is hugely important to have fire monitoring and alarming devices with good performance installed inside those tall structures. Unfortunately, traditional fire alarm systems, restricted by electrical connector and system topology, are not eligible for modern building’s monitoring and alarming any more. Against this backdrop, it is quite useful to study and design wireless fire monitor systems based on the emerging technology of Internet of Thing. This paper starts with the functional design of wireless fire monitor systems, that is, this paper firstly outlining the general design proposal of the whole systems based on IOT technology by analyzing performance of ZigBee wireless communications technology. Then coordinator nodes, router nodes, and sensor terminal nodes are designed and implemented on CC2530RF Chip-centered hardware after some decent analysis and research conducted on Protocol Stack. In the next step, corresponding upper-computer software is developed using Matlab GUI. Finally, some relevant field tests of the wireless fire monitor system are carried out, including tests on communication distance, network communications and upper-computer software. The consequences show that, even though we are still some way off massive practical application and we still have to work harder on perfecting the whole system, our system have achieved the expected functional requirements and design goals.
