The pipeline is an important infrastructure to guarantee public health and safety ofurban. As the time went by, the pipeline will appear damage with different degree, sopipeline detection work should be carried out on time. The traditional manual testsmethods are inconvenient and have too much risk. There is profound significance inresearch on the intelligent pipeline detection equipment.The pipeline robot is the intelligent pipeline detection equipment with a CCDcamera installed, which is controlled by the video controller to finish real-time datacollection, storage and playback of the internal situation of the pipeline. The pipelinerobot can realize the real-time detection of pipeline comprehensively. According to thecharacteristics of the embedded system, studies have been made on software design ofthe video controller of pipeline robot based on embedded Linux.Firstly, the overall design of the video monitoring system, hardware and softwaredesign of video controller are analyzed. On hardware, the selection of embeddedprocessor and the structure of the platform are studied; on software, the overallframework of the software platform is analyzed on the basis of the research of theembedded Linux, FFmpeg, OSD and MiniGUI.Secondly, the embedded Linux system is constructed under GM8180platform,including the installations of Linux system, cross compilers chain, and theconfiguration of super terminal. The realization of the bootstrap, the kernel and the rootfile system.Thirdly, FFmpeg are studied and modified, according to the softwarerequirements of the embedded video system. Some video functions are realized onGM8180development board, which have the function of video acquisition, videopreview, video playback, get pictures, check pictures. The OSD technology is studiedand the function of characters superposition on the video is realized. All video systemsoftwares design are realized.Finally, the user interface of the video controller is realized in two methods. Oneis based on the OSD and the other on graphics MiniGUI. Interfaces implemented bythese two methods are compared. Test results indicate that the controller have a goodability; the development of the pipeline robot opens up a new domain for the city’ssafety.
