Power line carrier communication is a kind of special communication mean in power system, it can directly use the existing power resources. It occupies an important position in the power communication system because of the characteristics of economic and reliable. In the traditional power line carrier communication system, a voice signal and a remote signal can be transferred in4kHz basic bandwidth, so the communication capacity is small relatively. This paper proposes a design and implementation scheme of multi-channel multiplexer based on FPGA. This scheme greatly improves the utilization rate of frequency band which can realize the data transmission for multiple channels voice signal and remote signal without increasing the transmission bandwidth of communication system.In the system of multi-channel multiplexer in this paper, the voice signal is compressed first at the transmitting end.Then the system make use of FPGA for digital multiplexing for remote signal and the voice signal after being compressed.The multiple signal is for data transmission after V.34modem modulation.At the receiving end,the data demultiplexes in FPGA after V.34modem demodulation.Finally,original voice signal and remote signal are restored.V.34high-speed Modem is utilized in the system as a baseband Modem.The the data rate transmission can be up to33.6kbps. It can realize the data transmission for four channels of voice signal and two channels of remote signal. Therefore,the transmission capacity of power line carrier is expanded.Around the whole design scheme of multi-channel multiplexer, this paper focus on the discussion of the design about the algorithm of digital multiplexing and demultiplexing, design and implementation of the V.34Modem and FPGA design and implementation of the remote low-speed Modem.
