| The thesis aimed at the study of news headlines with the same news source. The four newspapers include changjiang daily, hubei daily, wuhan evening news and chutian metropolis daily. I collected a lot of headlines and built a small corpus. On the basis of headlines’ tagging and statistics, I used figure-ground theory to study and comparative analysis.In this paper, I analyzed and compared the vocabulary and sentence patterns of the four news headlines with the same news source.Changjiang daily, wuhan evening news and chutian metropolis daily showed some consistency on the use of all kinds of nouns, Hubei daily showed a large difference. The numbers of names in the changjiang daily, hubei daily, chutian metropolis daily are the same, place names and organization names of the chutian metropolis daily headlines are the largest number, the numbers of other proper nouns are the same in the headlines of Changjiang daily and wuhan evening news. The numbers of the time nouns of Changjiang daily is the largest. Four newspapers are paid attention to the choice of verbs and use, so the news headlines of the four newspapers presented a different style. About the use of the number, Changjiang daily and chutian metropolis daily showed some consistency, they paid more attention to the use of the digital. But Hubei daily showed some uniqueness. About the sentence structure, four newspapers are like to use the sentences of subject-predicate structure, and complex sentences, non subject-predicate structure sentences and other special sentences are less likely to use.News headline is the eye of the news, it’s very important to news. Today information developed, the language of news title highlighted its unique charm, The headlines of the four newspapers report same news, but the information focus is different. Because news headlines is a kind of language creative activity, and it’s also relate to the author of the news headlines. News headlines is a language communication activity, the author’s own subjective factors, readers, context and space of the newspapers have an impact on information focus.Facing the news with the same source, four newspapers actively responded to it. They tried to find different news information, so that their news headlines were different form others. But there were still some problems, such as, they had some same headlines, the information was not accurate, their news reports were not timely. So the news staffs must pay more attention to it and take measures. They can improve their professional level and moral qualities, follow the principle of the news reports and the requirements. They can also change the train of thought, so that they can improve the quality of the news reporting, different form others and occupy the dominant position in the fierce competition. |
