Red mud is a kind of industrial residue generated in production of alumina. Production and people’s lives are seriously affected. It has seriously hampered the healthy development of the aluminum industry. Comprehensive utilization of red mud is an important issue of circular economy and sustainable development. The use of red mud expect firing cement remain in the pilot study stage. The impact of the red mud can not be resolved. Effective use of the red mud is an important topic.The overall design scheme for production line according to the basic principle of conceptual design, gets basic design parameters, forms the basic scheme of production line. Red mud insulation board production line is mainly composed of feeding system, molding system, cutting system and control system. The feeding system includes automatic feeding machine, mixing machine, conveying device, dust removal device. The chain drive has axis pitch range, the transmission ratio constant and vibration absorption, a certain degree of adaptability and reliability in harsh environment, the production line of the overall transmission system is mainly designed to chain drive; molding system includes adjustable hopper, homogenizing device, roll extrusion device, three-dimensional synchronous delivery device, heating and drying device, the exhaust device and a control device. The roll extrusion device can adjust the support to the production of different specifications of the products; the cutting system includes vertical and horizontal cutting device, control system; control system includes hardware and control software.The drying method is microwave drying, compared with other conventional drying method, it has the advantages of high efficiency, energy saving, clean and pollution. The mathematical model of the material internal heat and mass transfer in the microwave drying process is established according to the principle of heat exchange, the temperature field is simulated by using ANSYS software. Through in-depth analysis of microwave heating mechanism of the material, the material temperature distribution is obtained in microwave drying process. The primary rule of heat and mass transfer in the microwave drying process is showed thorough the results of the analysis.
