Design And Implementation Of Enterprise’s Intranet

Early in1990s in China, all kinds of enterprises started to emphasis on information technology. The initial information construction was mainly reflected in the use of computers to manage the production, operation and management of the process and reduce the manual burden, In order to solve the problem of information silos, we must connect every separated computer. More and more companies were starting to focus on the internal network construction. However, most of the intranets’design are too simple, and network scalability, security and stability and had not been fully applied. For example, lack of necessary precautions for attacks from the internal, lack of good planning for the expansion of network size, lack of effective supervision and management for network status and fault, and lack of necessary means of support for network quality of service.The purpose of this research is based on current situation of an enterprise’s intranet, to build a scalable, stable, relatively safe intranet for the enterprise, which can support the necessary network applications.We describe the research from four aspects. Firstly, we analyze and study the key technology of the enterprise’s intranet from software and hardware, including802.3standard, network topology, network interconnection protocols, and network devices. Subsequent research work will use these standards, protocols and devices to construct a reasonable enterprise’s intranet. Secondly, we analyze the current situation of a pharmaceutical wholesale enterprise, summarize the problems the enterprise information construction and intranet construction, and describe the development requirements of the intranet. Thirdly, according to the current situation and development requirements of the intranet, we propose five principles of enterprise’s intranet design:stable and reliable, easy to expand, guaranteed bandwidth, security control, monitoring and management. Under the guidance of the design principles, we plan a design proposal of the intranet, then we analyze the design proposal in order to ensure compliance with five design principles, and subsequently we show the specific implement process and implement style of the design proposal, including devices selection, VLAN configuration, Switches configuration, Routers configuration, and network management configuration. Finally, we analyze the necessity of ensuring enterprise’s intranet and propose five safe criteria of intranet:avoiding the interaction between multiple applications, turning off unnecessary services and ports, regular backups of data, control of importing and exporting data, disabling the intranet directly connected to the Internet. However, in exceptional circumstances the intranet must be connected to the Internet, so it needs some safe measures. We propose a solution using VPN and show the specific configuration process.In this research, on the one hand, we apply effectively our learned network knowledge and technology in the design and implement of an enterprise’s intranet and enhance the capacity of theory with practice. On the other hand, we explore an economical and viable road for construction and improvement of enterprise’s intranet, and provide necessary reference to the similar network construction for others, so that others can avoid making some mistakes in intranet construction.
