| Sport is part of human life and an important symbol of social civilization.Sports activities in the modern mass media play a more and more important role.The wonderful sports events attract much attention of the sports fans. Sports news,as the important carrier for reporting sports events, spreading sports spirit andconducting cultural sports communication, is of great realistic significance andvalue. Sports news with rich rhetoric is worth further linguistic discussions andexplorations. Russian modern sports news contains a series of genre and stylisticcharacteristics. The diversity in form and richness in content determine a mixedstructure in language organization and affect the choice of rhetoric.This thesis includes three parts. It starts from rhetoric, combines relativetheories of linguistics, pragmatics, psycholinguistics and linguistic culturology,and systematically discusses the existing rhetoric in Russian modern sports news.It includes the definition and classification to language in sports news, clearlydefines the stylistic type, characteristics and illocutionary factors and explores therhetoric in different levels in Russian sports news. Especially, this thesis makes atentative analysis and integration in semantic rhetoric and syntax rhetoricaccording to their frequency and function. After that, probes into the regularpattern and characteristics in this research and finally describes the Russiancultural phenomenon and language character reflected by certain rhetoric.In the discussion, the author adopts the Russian authoritative sport newspaperSoviet Sport Newspaper and Sports Express in October2011as corpus. At thesame time, it is complemented by other typical examples in some academic writings, papers and periodicals. The author uses hypothesis---induction,deduction, interpretation, contextual analysis, conversion analysis and quantitystatistics according to the content in different chapters.The conclusion got in the thesis further discusses the basic theory offunctional rhetoric. In sports news, rhetoric serves as a way to express feelingclearly and vividly. As a special social language, it is significant for modernrhetoric and theory of journalism to define its genre features, stylisticcharacteristics, rhetoric distribution and aim, and cultural connotation. At the sametime, it could promote the establishment of rhetoric teaching, the innovation andreform of mass media and the improvement of journalists’ ability. |
