A Time Management Tool Based On Open Document Format

The Open Document Format (ODF) is an open XML-based document file formatfor office applications to be used for documents containing text, spreadsheets, charts,and graphical elements. It has the advantage of cross-platform. Since Open DocumentFormat specification is too complicated with more than one thousand pages, a lot ofprimary developers tend to give up. In order to better promote ODF standard and offeran easy way to use ODF without having to understand the whole ODF specification,ODF Toolkit community provide a vendor-neutral, open-source ODF documentdevelopment toolkit for developers to simplify the application development process,which includes a number of subprojects, and Simple ODF API is a very popular onewith the advantage of easy to learn, easy to use, and easy to expand.With the continuous development of the Simple ODF API, applications that useopen document as a storage medium are becoming increasingly diverse.In this paper, detailed usage scenarios and application prospects of opendocument, and how to combine open document and emerging technologies, as well ashow to operate ODF file with Simple ODF API are introduced. Furthermore, a timemanagement tool is developed that can do time management work anytime, anywhere,and is combined with social networking, which deepens and expends the timemanagement thought. Some currently popular new technologies, such as Sina weibo,Google Docs are absorbed.The proposed time management tool enriches the scene of time managementapplication, and is much closer to people’s daily lives. Written in pure Java languageand followed MVC pattern, it would be transplanted easily to other operating systems,including mobile operating system Android in the future.
