The Development And Application Of ODF Tookit

Over the years, Microsoft's desktop software, particularly office software has been dominant. Because Microsoft Office is non-open source software, other software makers can not completely compatible with Microsoft Office, and the user can pay related fees to use and upgrade it. The monopoly of this document format standard make the market lost a fair competitive environment. So, IBM,SUN and other companies launched Open Document Format (ODF), and is to break the Microsoft monopoly on office software market.The research scope of this paper is the ODF Toolkit document generation. It's going to implement one or more ODF documents generation function based on template. The input of this function is a fully formatted ODF document written by Symphony, which are called template. Data sources can be databases, files (such as IBM Lotus Symphony Spreadsheet, XML) and web resources. The toolkit can generate the ODF documents with the same format in batch. In this way, it can resolve the complexity of written version, reduce duplication, improve the efficiency of document generation and guarantee that information can be use at any time and be updated in time. The data source of the ODF document generation toolkit, which is applied in the medical system (CDA), is the XML file of CDA format. The user can write templates, customize the mapping between the field in the template and the elements of CDA.Through the research and realization of this paper, the author summarizes and analyzes the research status of ODF Toolkit. Through applying the ODF document generation tools in the medical system (CDA), the author explain the thought of the ODF document generation toolkit, its application in specific case, and the business value it brings. The paper proves that this tool can improve business efficiency, and reduce business operation costs. This paper has 21 figures,5 tables and 15 references.
