In the past ten years, the international joint-venture (IJV) enterprises increaserapidly which become an important strategy for international groups to enteringChinese market. Local IJV companies utilize the new product development (NPD)process, with short-term rapid development methodology, to transform the knowledgeresources into market competency and to develop the profitable product. In theprocess, IJV companies are faces with difficulties in accessing to the knowledgeresources from international group as well as the knowledge management, whichreduce the development effectiveness. The paper, based on this situation, proposes asocial knowledge management methodology for NPD as a new solution. This paperfirstly introduces the international study review on knowledge management and thenproposes the study direction. Secondly, this paper analyzed the knowledgemanagement requirement in NPD and then introduces a framework social knowledgemanagement network. Under this framework, chapter4studies the knowledgetransmission methodology and relative model to perform a mathematical calculationon the effectiveness of knowledge sharing and utilization; chapter5studies the keytechnologies, including the knowledge representation for NPD, automatic knowledgecapture and analysis, knowledge push for NPD and permission management; chapter6describes an example of the prototype system implemented within the enterprise asthe validation of the social knowledge management methodology. The prototypeverifies that the NPD can improve knowledge sharing, the effectiveness of knowledgeaccumulation, the product development efficiency and finally the overall productivity.
