Teacher’s research capacity is a comprehensive structural capability which includes the ability to choosing research topics, capability to design program, capability of operation, ability to organize data and write report, ability to evaluate research. Teacher’s research capacity has attracted more and more attention from researchers recent years, improving teachers’research ability can adapt to the need of knowledge-economy community, deepening reform of quality education and promoting teachers’ professional development. Private schools are the force of promoting the development of quality education, so private school teachers’ research capacity is very important.Existing scientific studies on the research ability of teachers mostly stay in the theoretical stage and less pay attention to practice survey on teachers’ scientific research ability, thus, they proposed abstract and vague strategy. Simultaneously, existing studies lack of detailed research on teacher study ability which can’t distinguish three concepts, teachers’ research, teaching staff and teachers’ study ability. Most study chose a sample of public schools, ignoring private school teachers. The study is conducted for private school teachers’ability aiming that understanding the status of scientific research ability of private school teachers, exploring ways and means to improve the research ability of private school teachers, providing some empirical material for related theory study, supplying relevant basis for department’s policy decision. Therefore, this study has theoretical and practical significance that can further enhance teachers’ awareness and ability to research, improve the quality of education and teaching of private schools continuously. On the one hand, this study can clarify the meaning of the private school teachers’research capacity, factors that affect the research ability of private school teachers, countermeasures for enhancing research capacity and enriching teachers’ scientific theory. On the other hand, it can improve the research capacity of private school teachers, enhance teaching quality of private schools and promote basic education curriculum reform according to the study.The study used questionnaires and interviews to survey the status of research capacity of Ji zhong SanXin bilingual school teachers in Zhongshan City. As a result,150questionnaires were assigned which130valid questionnaires were collected and the effective rate of questionnaires is86.7%. Seven teachers were interviewed, including one Vice-Chancellor, one grade director and five ordinary teachers. SPSS17.0and Microsoft Excel are used to analyze the study findings.The survey found that private school teachers’ research capacity to choose topics is inferior in theoretical, oriented and documented selecting topics; capabilities of design research program is inferior; applying theory, using research methods and program implementation is weak; material’s analysis and data compilation is low; evaluation of educational research is feeble and some teachers have blur awareness on their own situation of research capacity and other issues.According to the survey, the factors that influence Private school teachers’ research capacity sort in descending orders on the basis of the extent of its influence, busy in work, the test pressure, lack of professional theory, less assistance on the actual teaching, inadequate funding and afraid that others do not understand. It is the teachers’ low attention rate to research that has direct impact on the possibility of research ability development in private secondary school teachers. Also private schools’ research atmosphere exists alien phenomenon, which depresses teachers’ scientific enthusiasm and the force to improve their research capacity.Therefore, several suggestions are made as following. Firstly, the private schools should have a correct understanding of educational research including abandoning visual scientific research and paying close attention to students’ development. Secondly, teachers should establish a correct scientific sense which consists of establishing the sense of "will do" and "can do", awareness of diversity issues, reflective consciousness and independent research awareness. Thirdly, the schools should establish a reasonable mechanism of protection and excitation on private secondary schools, that is, establish a liberal and independent research platform, improve the mechanism of research investment and excitation, takes effective ways to motivate teachers. Fourthly, the schools should improve the scientific management of private schools including improving the research management quality of private secondary schools’personnel, a standardized and institutionalized research management of private schools and implementation of the Institute’s integration strategy. Fifthly, the schools should carry out effective school-based research activities. Lastly, teachers must acquire the relevant scientific knowledge and skill which includes a good grasp of the principles and ways on choosing the topic, mastering skills of improve research design, training teachers’skills of using educational theory to analyze and solve problems of education and teaching, mastering knowledge to writing research reports and the program to evaluate research report.
