It is self-evident that college entrance examination is very crucial under thebackground of the Chinese current education system. Through enrollment of collegesand universities, students can receive high quality education and have important socialresources. What’s more, they can realize their personal value of life. However, inrecent years high school graduates abandon examination regardless of its importance. The enrollment of college students in2013decreased for the fifth time and onehundred thousand high school students will give up the examination every year, whichhas attracted the attention of people. This paper takes equity as its logical starting point to discuss why students give upsuch examination. They give up college entrance examination because of theone-sided pursuit of graduation rates, university tuition fees, social class disadvantage, unfair allocation of resources and admission injustice. On the basis of analyzing maincauses and reasons of abandoning exam, I try to put forward the corresponding policyto alleviate the college entrance examination.First of all, this paper expounds the concept of fairness, fairness in education, higher education and related theory. The fairness of education in modern societydepends on public educational resources such as opportunities, rights, profit, conditions provided by government to maximize the public education resourceequality and protect different individuals or social groups of what they deserve. At thesame time, the definition of entrance examination has been stipulated. We considergiving up college entrance examination as those who are supposed to participate in thenational university entrance exam including graduates and graduates in previous yearswho abandon before registration or halfway in the exam.Secondly, use figures and charts to show the phenomenon of giving up collegeentrance examination in recent years. And by using education, educational philosophy, sociology and other theories, as well as some personal choices, there are five main reasons. The school deprives students’ right to participate in college entranceexamination. There is a rise in university tuition fees. Students from poor families areunable to pay. Weak class is difficult to get the equal opportunity. Students in urbanand rural areas stand on unequal competition platform as a result of unevendistribution of educational resources. The admission system is not perfect. Goodgrades are not a guarantee that you can go to college. As an important selection means, the college entrance examination should be in the service of high school graduates. However, some students give up the university entrance exam because of somereasons, which is not a normal phenomenon against the education equity theory. Finally, according to the theory of education fairness "deserved" and "matching"principle, I try to put forward the countermeasures for giving up college entranceexamination aiming at giving up college entrance examination questions, including aban on school deprived of the rights of students; reform university fees system, ensurestudents do not because of poor abandon exam; focus on the interests of the weak, allocate education resources rationally; reform of enrollment system of collegeentrance examination, to promote the exam fair.
