In the recent decades, English songs more and more frequently have appeared in the junior high school English teaching. As an important part of culture in English-speaking countries, English songs can vividly show the customs of the English-speaking countries. They can also provide English learning with the real and rich language materials. In the junior high school English teaching, English songs have been integrated to enrich the forms of English teaching, with a very special significance. The middle-school students generally like listening to music, and English songs can improve their interest in English learning. But many educators at home and abroad still continue to explore the issues: how to actively and reasonably integrate English songs into the junior middle school English teaching; how to use English songs to help students understand the cultural background of the language; how to expand language knowledge.Having realized the importance of English songs integrated into English basic teaching, more and more domestic educators have made some small-scale experimental curriculum, and some achievements also have been got. However, the use of English songs is still hard to be popularized in the whole English teaching at present. Through the form of theory and practice, the author has done the corresponding research on the application of English songs to the junior middle school English teaching, and also put forward three application forms, namely as the teaching background music, as the language teaching materials and as the cultural background knowledge. Finally, the experiment has proved whether English songs benefit for middle school English teaching and whether these three application forms are feasible.The paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction, and presents the research background of research, the significance of research, and the methods of research. The second part is the literature review, which introduces the research status of English songs teaching at home and abroad and research status and the Second Language Acquisition Theory. The third part expounds the feasibility and importance of English songs for junior high school English teaching, from the aspects that songs can adjust mood, improve the learning interest, promote the understanding of knowledge, and others. The fourth part is the application of English songs in English teaching, which contains the selection principles and application forms, and finally it shows a teaching case. The fifth part is the experiment to further testify whether English songs contribute to the junior high school teaching and whether this three application forms are feasible. The sixth part summarizes the value of English songs in junior high school English teaching field, and puts forward the limitations of this text.
