| Reflecting on the status quo of Chinese teaching in primary and secondary schools, we find that the reading teaching is the bottleneck which impedes the development of Chinese teaching. Confronted with flaws of various kinds in current reading teaching, we should do our utmost to find out its essential issues and put forward corresponding solutions instead of complaining it. Ruan Zhen, a distinguished Chinese educational expert in the period of the Republic of China, published seven treatises concerning Chinese education in the1920s and1930s, and three of them were involved in reading teaching. It is fair to say, he achieved fruitful achievements in the field of reading teaching. The purposes of this study are as follows:first, summarize Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thought to devise a preliminary framework about his reading teaching thoughts; second, propose some suggestions and recommendations for the current middle school’s reading teaching problems by summarizing and generalizing Ruan Zhen’s insightful views into reading teaching.This thesis consists of there parts:introduction, body and conclusion. Among them, the body of this thesis can be sub-divided into five chapters.Introduction:This part contains two sections:the first section is the introduction of Ruan Zhen’s basic information; the second section is the literature review of the current research of Ruan Zhen, which introduces the reason of the research, the history and present situation of this research, the goal and the significance of this research, and the main characteristics and innovations of this research.Chapter one:This chapter summarizes Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thoughts. It briefly reviews the basic contents and values of Ruan Zhen’s teaching thoughts, then discusses its status and influence. Finally, the research status of Zhen’s teaching thoughts is summarized and concluded.Chapter two:The second chapter is the analysis of Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thoughts, which is the main part of the paper. The author first gives an overview of Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thoughts, then illustrates them at great length from three aspects: research on middle school’s curricular reading teaching, research on middle school’s extracurricular reading teaching, Ruan Zhen’s reading experiences and his reading methods.Chapter three:This chapter, also the distinguishing feature of this thesis, mainly discusses the innovation of Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thoughts. The chapter mainly proceeds from three levels:innovation in comparison with previous research, contemporary scholars and innovation in overall level. Chapter four:This chapter mainly analyzes the status quo of middle school’s reading teaching, in terms of the current goals of secondary teaching reading, reading time and contents, the lack of reading guidance and reading evaluation.Chapter five:This chapter presents the research’s practical value. Based on the research in previous chapters, it combines Ruan Zhen’s reading teaching thoughts with current reading situation with a view to improving the reading teaching.Conclusion:This chapter mainly draws conclusions, evaluates the study in an overall way, then propose the direction of future research. |
