The professional development of headteachers has drawn widespread attention from education circle and it is an inevitable trend to understand its current situation improve the overall quality of headteachers and guide them towards the way of professional development.This article is divided into five chapters to discuss the current situation of primary headteacher’s professional development and propose appropriate measures.The first chapter is introductory part that explains the theoretical and practical significance by proposing questions and suggests the qualification and abundant knowledge professional skills, professional ethics and communication skills with students a headteacher needs.The second chapter defines the meaning of headteachers, teacher and professional teachers’professional development synthesizes the study about headteachers’ development from domestic and abroad and discusses the the indicators of professional development of primary headteachers,which offers to some extent theoretical and realistic support for the range and design of the questionnaire and interview.The third and fourth chapters design the questionnaire about headteachers’ professional development and understand the current situation of local headteachers’ professional development in a deep, real and specific way. According to the result of the questionnaire, an interview with the front line teachers and headmasters is made and the current situation of the headteachers’professional development is understood and analyzed.By unifying the social and personal needs for headteachers professional development, the author puts forward the countermeasures to promote the development of primary headteachers:Perfect the system of the headteacher professional development to cause the attention of the department of education, and improve the relative regulations, safeguard the routinization of professional development, create environment for the headteacher professional development, promoting the sustainable development of the headteacher professional, enhance its sustainable development,improve the consciousness of headteachers’self-development and finally realize the autonomous professional development.
