Self-presentation or Impression management is a controlled impression of oneself that is different from other people or entities and how people view themselves.The current study aims to identify the relationship between self-presentation and personality.Through a cross-sectional analysis across China and Fiji,it conducted a quantitative research on 646 participants.Out of the participants that were randomly selected,310 of the participants were from Universities in Wuhan and 336 of the rest of participants were from Universities in Suva.Statistical package for social science(SPSS)was run to analyze the data collected.Fijian students reported a statistical significance between Self-presentation online with extraversion,agreeableness,neuroticism,conscientiousness and openness.The results were also consistent in the relationship between self-presentation in a social interaction.Findings from Chinese students showed that there was only a significant relationship between self-presentation in a social interaction with Extraversion and Neuroticism.Offline self-presentation related with the Extraversion,Agreeableness and Openness significantly.These findings suggested that there are some differences in the relationship of self-presentation and personality between Fijian and Chinese,and also some commons,which indicated that self-presentation can reflect the personality characteristics in some degree.Moreover,this study also examined the differences of internet addiction and clarify the imitations and future directions of the study.
