Contemporary College Students’ Political Apathy Problem Research

For over30years reform and opening up, China’s politics, economic, scienceand technology and cultural construction have made great progress, people’s livingstandards improved significantly. But with the development of market economy, apart of the contemporary college students has obviously displayed the trend ofpolitical apathy, played down the politics. They do not like the ideological andpolitical theory courses, lack interest in political activities, and become a mereformality, apparent lack of independent spirit and democratic consciousness, etc.Contemporary college students’ political apathy is to point to as the main body ofpolitical participation in contemporary college students, due to factors such as society,school, family and oneself, under the condition of have the option, the political life ofthe lack of the sense of responsibility and confidence, for the political participationshows more or less boring. The society in China since reform and opening up are themain reasons why the one-sided pursuit of economic development, neglected thespiritual civilization construction, combined with China’s unique historical andcultural tradition, political system and imperfect, democratic consciousness is notpopular, improper education methods, make contemporary college students’ politicalapathy problems are increasingly serious in our country, solve the problem ofcontemporary college students’ political apathy, explore the educationcountermeasures of the problem is imperative.This article first from the contemporary college students and the meaning ofcontemporary college students’ political apathy and performance, the preliminaryintroduction to the contemporary college students and the related concepts ofcontemporary college students’ political apathy, puts forward the necessity ofresearch on contemporary college students’ political apathy, and through thequestionnaire way of contemporary college students’ political attention, attention point of view, political cognition, political attitude, political participation motivationand political participation behavior and so on six investigation, concluded that thecontemporary college students’ political apathy status quo, and from society, school,family and individual four aspects to analyze its causes. Finally, according to thereasons put forward to improve the status of contemporary college students’ politicalapathy should follow the principles, including the developmental principle,subjective principle, advanced principle and principle of pertinence.
