Research On The Political Participation Of Contemporary College Students

The practice of political participation originates from the development of the democratic politics, and the citizen’s political participation is generally associated with the democratic system. In 2007, the party’s 17 th National Congress proposed to expand citizens’ Orderly Political Participation from all levels and fields. In 2012, at the eighteen meeting of the party, once again stressed the improvement of front-line workers, farmers, intellectuals through the people’s Congress to exercise the rights of the state. The political participation is an important link in the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is related to the vital interests of the people and the construction of socialist democratic system. College students are the builders and successors of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics, and the newly emerging force of the team, their political sense of participation is directly related to national political construction of democracy at the grass-roots level.This paper mainly from the basic concepts of political participation and related theory, the concept of College Students’ political participation, analysis of the necessity and importance of political participation of College students. Political participation is of great significance to the individual and the collective of the state.College students through politics to participate in activities, to defend their legitimate rights and interests, so as to obtain more political, legal and economic protection and to promote their all-round development; for the national collective, the college students’ political participation is conducive to the national government decisionmaking more scientific and democratic, is conducive to maintaining the stability of the social order. In order to understand the current situation of College Students’ political participation, this paper analyzes the current situation of College Students’ political participation through questionnaire survey, and expounds the main ways of political participation of college students. It is found that the political participation of college students has the characteristics of apathy, utilitarianism, diversity and disorder.This paper argues that should be a dialectical view of political participation of college students exist the phenomenon of indifference, because when the achieved under the premise of the political modernization, people generally have the political belief, that citizen national identity of the line, principles and policies, do not need too much government intervention decision. At this time of political apathy is conducive to the situation at that time. But the construction of China’s specific national conditions,economic, political, cultural and other aspects need further improvement, the existence of the phenomenon of political apathy is not conducive to the all-round development of the society, the college students’ political participation indifference phenomenon should be a critical position. The emergence of the phenomenon of political apathy of college students is not caused by unilateral factors, it is affected by the mutual influence of economic factors, institutional factors, cultural and psychological factors, and political participation in the four aspects of the environment. So, how to cultivate students’ orderly and active political participation pattern from these four factors is the main topic of this paper.
