Learning motivation is the first driving force for students to study and a non-intellectual factor that has influence on students’school records. Due to various causes, the senior high school students’motivation for geography is in a low level. Therefore, it is an urgent and important task to research high school geography learning motivation.The theoretical basis of this study is based on psychological theory, educational theory and curriculum and the teaching theory. The methods of this study are delivering questionnaire to students, interviewing the teachers and teaching cases. After the analysis of the data, the theory that the cultivation of geographical learning motivation and stimulating strategy of senior high school students guides the teaching of senior geography teaching has been proposed.The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part describes the background, significance, methods and lines of this study. The second part systematically describes the relative concept,the research status of learning motivation from abroad and home, and the cultivation of learning motivation which is based on psychological theory, educational theory and curriculum and the teaching theory. The third part gives an explanation and evaluation of questionnaire to students, interviewing the teachers and teaching cases. The study found that there are obviously differences among different groups towards geographical learning motivation of senior high school students. Firstly, there are differences towards geographical learning motivation of senior high school students between male students and female students. The motivation of male students is higher. Secondly, the motivation declines as the grades changes. Thirdly, the motivation of rural students is weaker than the urban students. According to the analysis of the data, the elements affecting the motivation are the ability of study, teacher-student relationship, text book, learning results, family and social environment. The degree of affecting is different towards different individual. The fourth part proposes four strategies towards the phenomenon that the motivation of Kuala Yuli county Number One Middle school students is lower:Firstly, lead the students find the proper attribution, and improve their confidence. Secondly, help students to fix the proper learning goal to strengthen the inner motivation of students. Thirdly, strengthen students’sense of success; Fourthly, Shaping teachers’charm; Fifthly, optimize the geographic teaching class to increase the interest of students. Sixthly, strengthen the school cultural building to create the atmosphere which is suitable for the cultivation of students learning motivation. The last part gives the conclusions and limits of this paper.The innovations of this paper are:Firstly, the author found the good methods and weak aspects what teacher did in the process of stimulating the motivation of students which are based on the reflection of the whole class and observation of the doing of students and teachers. Secondly, the study provides lots of active teaching cases, avoids the theoretical cavity, has operability and increases the time effectiveness.
