A Research On Regional Difference Of Leisure Time Utilization Of Urban Residents

Leisure is being "the new tendency and the keyword of our times." It is not difficultto find that leisure has changed the way in people’s life. Leisure time increases byraising social productivity level and decreasing working time. It is not only influencethe way of leisure activities, but also the way of our life. Through Inspecting andresearching the literature that I find out the domestic investigations of leisure time aremost for a single developed area, lack of comparing between different cities orcountries at present. As the matter of fact, four representative cities which are Macau,Chengdu, Taipei and Gifu were selected as survey places in this study. The usepatterns of leisure time, the influence factors of leisure time distribution and leisureinclination of residents were surveyed to analysis the social attributes of the residents.Additionally, the time value for different activities were calculated using themaximization of utility model. The results show that the leisure time of residents inGifu is more than other three cities and the sequence is Gifu, Macao, Chengdu andTaipei. It also shows that the use patterns of leisure time are diversified for the fourcities. The residents of four cities involve to leisure activities, which may improvethemselves and reflect their own values. Macao residents are willing to spend moretime and money involved in social work and community activities, Chengdu residentsare more willing to participate in social activities. Taipei residents are more willing toparticipate in the entertainment activities. Gifu residents are more willing toparticipate in the activities which can improve their ability. The intrinsic factors ofthemselves and the external factors influence the improvement of leisure quality.Therefore, the Government and relevant departments should increase leisurefacilities, advance the quality of recreational products, increase the residents welfareand induct residents to use their leisure time scientifically, effectively and reasonably.
