The unique cultural character of the Chinese teaching materials hasan important and far-reaching effect on the formation of the students’cultural values. Knowing and grasping the situation of every culturaltypes in the teaching materials is beneficial both for the culturaldimension revision of the teaching materials, and for the teaching work ofthe teachers.The current Chinese textbook of people’s education version forjunior middle school used in Tibetan area contains richer culture thanothers. One of the important cultural character of the textbook is that iteducates the students with patriotism of national unity and nationalunification.Chapter one is the introduction. It introduces the origin of theselected topic,the purpose and the significance of the research, and theresearch methods.Chapter two is the literature review. It defines the concept of cultureand some relevant concepts; it elucidates the relationship of culture andChinese education, the cultural character of the Chinese teachingmaterials and the cultural characteristics of the Chinese textbook used inTibetan area. Meanwhile, the main research direction and trend ofacademic circles are obtained and the theoretical support and realistic basis of this study are gained.In chapter three, it introduces the classification theory of culture.Referring to the previous classification method of culture to Chineseteaching materials, and combining the actual research situation, itclassifies the cultural types of the object of this study and defines theinvolved concepts of cultural types.In chapter four, it identifies the cultural type of every selection of thetextbook by using the culture taxonomy and then classify the culturaltypes of the textbook through statistic analysis. It ascertains thedeficiency and the scotomas of every cultural types of the textbook.In chapter five and six, they put forward some advice and suggestionsaccording to the research conclusion and points out the problems existingin the research itself.
