The rapid development of computer network technology make it possible thatmodern distance education becomes popular. On the condition that teachers andstudents in the spatial and temporal separation can implement teaching activities, butthere is still a lot of problems produced. For example, in the absense of supervisionand guidance of the teachers, the learners’ learning goals may not be clear, they areeasiy distracted by numerous and miscellaneous information on the network, theycan’t implement appropriate control to their learning behaviors, they are unable todetect effectively to learning outcomes, and they even can not make reasonablejudgments on whether or not their own learning behaviors promote the acpuisition ofknowledge and the improvement of ability. Therefore, it is especially important totrack and feedback the learning activities of network learners, and then present theresults recorded to the learners for regualting their behaviors according to the differentstages of learning process. E-Portfolio is such a window, a platform, a folder ofstoraging the information of learning process.The study firstly summarizes the current situations of theoretical rearch andpractical application on learning monitoring systerm in online course and e-portfolio,and then put forward the necessity and rationality of applying e-portfolio to learningmonitoring systerm in online course. On the basis, the studys describes the monitoringrequirements in online course of e-portfolio according to pratical needs. Then itdesigns the ePortfolio-based monitoring mode based on the Learning Theory ofConstructivism, Learning Theory of Behavior, Learning Theory of Meta-Cognitive.The monitoring mode puts the different stages of learning as a basic division point,designs aspects of each stage of learning process. Its main function is to monitorlearning behaviors in every aspect. The phased learning materials and conclusions aresaved in e-portfolio of this stage. The e-portfolio provides evidence of proving thedevelopments and changes of learners in the learning process. Thus, it bulids aplatform in online course based on this monitoring mode. Finally, the study developslearning monitoring system in online courses based on the the e-portfolio embodyingthe mode design.
