New geography curriculum emphasizes on paying attention to cultivationof students’ learning ability. To change the traditional learning methods isvery important, which can make students to learn geography.From teaching practices, the author observes that most of teachers onlyemphasize the teaching of knowledge in books and merely pay attention togeography learning ability of students. And many of them perhaps do notknow how to cultivate geography learning ability. All these bring results thatstudents just can remember fragmentary knowledge, and they can not fullycomprehend laws and principles of geography. Moreover, they are lack ofapplication ability atfer learning geography.How to change learning methods and improve learning ability of studentsbecomes a signiifcant topic of education given by the era. Based on thisunderground, Interactive Model of Two Plans Teaching Mode isproposed.The teaching mode, which conforms to learning theory ofconstructive, relfects a teaching principle of teacher-led and student-centeredin geography classes. In accordance with situation of the school,the authorstudies how to cultivate geography learning ability of Eighth Grade underInteractive Model of Two Plans Teaching Mode combining teaching theoryand teaching practice. The article adopts such study methods as literaturesurveynal, questionnaire investigation, case ayses and induction,etc.andmainly focuses on a standard experimentary textbook for courses incompulsory education,Geography(for Eighth Grade,Vol.1and Vol.2,People’sEducation Pressonstructivism and,2006) in the guidance of theories of cgeography learning and teaching. Based on study and practice, this article proposes following fundamentalconclusions.Firstly, geographic ability refers to learning ability of geography,which isthe capability to analyse,explain and solve all kinds of issues by adoptinggeographic knowledge,skills and wisdom.Meanwhile,it is also the capabilityto obtain geographic message,analyse maps and apply the maps to solvepractial problems.Secondly, on the one hand, the design of learning plan for eighth gradegeography shall abide by following-mentioned principles,includingoptimization principle, problem-solving pirnciple, graph-oriented pirnciple,practicability principle. On the other hand, the design of teaching plan foreighth grade geography shall follow four principles, namely synchronizationdesign principle, learning-based teaching principle, capability Simplicity andavailability principle.Thirdly, with Interactive Model of Two Plans Teaching Mode, differentgeographic ability need disparate methods to improve learning ability ofstudents. For example, to develop asking ability, we can adopts questioningmethod by comparison, title, causal association, map, etc. Developinggeographic ability, we can use such measures as map-reading and image-textcombination method.Foutrhly, the effects of Interactive Model of Two Plans Teaching Mode onlearning capability of Geography for the eighth grade students are as follows.On one hand,through teaching practice and questionnaire survey,students’ interest in geography learning is extremely enhanced and students are willingto raise question.What’s more, they tend to raise good questions. On the otherhand,the most majority of them master how to read and analyze maps as wellas the learning method of area difference comparision; besides that studentslearn how to analyze and organize geography information.With this teachingmode, students make great progress and enhance their learning capability.
