The transformation from one course ability to students' comprehensive ability is a central issue in contemporary educational reforming in courses, for instance. Learning with research, the development of potential, exploratory teaching, interactive teaching, study of creativity and all kinds of reforming in the national college entrance examination. They're all the specific transitional form around the transformation, the thesis looks back the history of geography ability and its comprehensive ability and gives analysis of its present condition. It discovers the theory and practical meaning of the transformation from geography ability to students' comprehensive ability. From the beginning to the end the test method was made to run through that of survey and research with partpation. The advantage of survey method in the form of asking questions was made full use of to know all-side about the weaknesses of students' ability in geography and their comprehensive ability. The suitable measures in all fields were taken according to different situation. In the thesis it gives the statement that geography has its great advantage—comprehensive and practical feature in training students' comprehensive ability.In order to put the transformation into effect, first, teachers should break the traditional teaching method in which only passing on knowledge is paid attention to in class and purposely, gradually and imperceptibly change it intoa mew teaching form in which raising students' comprehensive ability is given first place as well as passing knowledge. Second, students' ability of using map from all sides should be trained greatly. Third, the main point in the transformation is that the interactive teaching should be strengthened which is effective method to transform the course ability to the comprehensive ability. The following are found out during the course of teaching.1 , ability of combining geography with science is weak.2, The imagination in space and the ability of using pictures are not very good.3 , The difference between boys and girls in geography comprehensive ability is clear.4, The comprehensive ability of the students in senior grade three can be greatly improved obviously.Teachers should analyse the causes for the phenomenon above and find out the point of contact to give teaching on purpose and improve teaching quality.
