From1920to the present, foreign literary works have been teaching in high school textbooks over90years. But there still exist a lot of controversies about the selected foreign literary works. Foreign literature in the teaching materials have been attracting much attention, especially in the works selecting and teaching.In the first chapter, in accordance with the syllabus and the curriculum ideas of the new curriculum standards, the author compared the2003version of high school Chinese textbook with the2007version of that, which were both published by People’s Education Press, to find out the differences on selecting and the characteristics, to sum up and analyze the epochal character of the2007version on the teaching material selecting, so that people could know about the general situation of foreign literature in the current2007edition textbooks.In the second chapter, according to the first chapter, combining with one’s own point of view, the author summarized and analyzed the current situation of the Selection of foreign literary works in the current2007version. It is mainly about two aspects:firstly, the prominent characteristics and the progress of the2007edition textbooks Selected Works have been shown, comparing with the2003version of the work; secondly, the works selecting tendency has been analyzed, and thus leading to the works selecting reasons of the status quo in the teaching materials.According to the current foreign literature works selecting situation, the third chapter explored the factors of foreign literary works selecting in the teaching materials from the following aspects:First, the requirements of works selecting in the new curriculum standards; second, the influence of the open cultural environments on foreign literary works selecting.In the fourth chapter, based on the analysis of the above three chapters, the author carried out an in-depth thought on teaching, in order to propose some corresponding solutions to the works teaching on the basis of new curriculum standards, and maximize the function of foreign literary works in the textbooks by using some suitable teaching methods.In the21st century, the communication among countries around the world is becoming more and more closely, which requires us to broaden our horizon, to accept the foreign culture, and to learn multicultural. It will not only enhance students’knowledge, but also contribute to the training of overall qualities, including language proficiency.
