Foreign literature contains affluent cultural spirit, which is the importantpart of cultural resources of the world. Foreign literature not only provides uswith knowledge, but also provides us with spiritual food; it not only gives usthe enjoyment of beauty, but also more spiritual nourishment; it not only letsus see the humble humanity, and it lets us feel the nobility of human; itcontains the various phenomena of the world, for example ourselves, others,good things, and evil. It improves our spirits gradually; it helps us to establishthe positive values, and shape the perfect personality.This paper mainly studies cultural spirits of foreign literature in theChinese teaching of the high school, and its infiltration in teaching. In theintroduction part, I would like to do a simple definition for cultural spirit tothe following narration; meanwhile it also shows the importance of infiltratingcultural spirits in Chinese teaching. For the main body of this paper, I explainmy thesis through four aspects: subject consciousness of foreign literature,social consciousness of foreign literature, and rational spirit of foreignliterature and religious spirit of foreign literature.The first chapter subject consciousness mainly expounds the humanism,heroism and tragedy consciousness combining the foreign literature. I hopethat these cultural spirits can instruct students to learn from the excellentcharacters of western culture through teaching.The second chapter discusses democracy consciousness and the spirit ofhumanity against the war. I hope that the students can understand theweakness of our own culture in the learning process, and constantly improvethemselves, be compliance with the code of ethics and religious charity.The third chapter researches one of important western spirits, the rationalspirit through discussing the scientific rational spirit and critical spirit. From ancient times to the present, China is short of scientific spirit and critical spirit,and the two kinds of spirits is indispensable to the social development, so Ithink that the two kinds of spirits is necessary to be introduced into ourlessons by our teachers, in order to improve students’ the development ofpersonality, as well as the development of Chinese culture.The forth part introduce the consciousness of original sin and universallove. I want to let the students understand the Western religious culture bytracing back to the origin of the consciousness of original sin, explainingcharacteristics of original sin consciousness, and exploring the great powerwhich is brought by the spirit of fraternity, so that they return to human nature,own the universal love, set up the correct moral values and form a soundpersonality.Finally I put forward several teaching strategies in infiltrating culturalspirits, hoping to help the future teaching.If the Chinese teacher advocate the training of cultural spirits in Chineseteaching, and respect students’ personal development, our Chinese classroomof the high school will be meaningful, brilliant. And the same time, thestudents will develop the correct view of world and values, and they can paymore closely attention to the human world, the history, the future. It is usefulfor the students’ development and the development of our Chinese culture inthe future.
