On the basis of a macroscopic summary of the ancient and the modern and contemporary Chinese articles selected in the compulsory Chinese textbooks for Jiangsu senior high school (5 volumes in all), and on the premise of synthesizing the comparative research of Chinese and western thoughts by Zehou Li, Zhaoguang Ge and Xiaofeng Liu, as well as analysing specific works of ancient and modern and contemporary Chinese literature, this paper comes to a conclusion that the selected ancient and modern and contemporary Chinese articles lack dialectics. In the 20th century, the society developed and changed much more than in any other century in history. The complexity of the society acts on delicate human organs. As the reflection of the relation between humanity and the world, literature has undergone great change in technique and style, and as the typifier, modernism literature reflects the world's reality in its unique way. They have great value to literature and to realizing the world, so their absence in the textbooks is no doubt a flaw. For the above problems, by adding modernism literature and articles of dialectics, the writer will demonstrate and solve the above problems. Film and television is an art that has developed for a century, and that is the product of development of the technological age. It has synthesized such traditional arts as literature, philosophy, painting and drama, and has its artistic uniqueness, and has the value of knowledge, aesthetic and teaching. Therefore, this paper also discusses the possibility of the entry of foreign film and television scripts into the Chinese textbooks.
