Professional females are an important workforce in our society, especially thoseintellectual women. As a group of the trend-setting pioneers, they are representing thevanguard of Chinese women in the workplace. With their excellent educationalbackground and high work competences, these female elites have been an integralpart for the social development. However, their high expectation for the careersatisfaction comes with a series of occupational stress, generally withstanding morepressure than their male colleagues. This is an issue in need of the whole community’sattention.This thesis will focus on the intellectual females’ professional situation, factorsleading to the occupational stress and counter-measures to bail themselves out. Theintellectual females’ career will be divided into five successive stages in this thesis:exploration, growth, stabilization, maturity and maintenance. First, the survey resultfrom the interviewed intellectual females will illustrate their occupational stress atdifferent stages. Second, in order to further understand the occupational stress to theintellectual females, this thesis will benefit from the sociology, psychology andmanagement theories to analyze the main seasons which are believed that thiscomplex phenomenon is caused comprehensively by the individuals, organizationsand society. Finally, there will be three main measures mentioned in this thesis to helpintellectual females reduce the working pressure in the intense social competition.The purpose of this thesis is to help the intellectual females realize the occupational situation, take the effective countermeasures and improve their careersatisfaction. Meanwhile, it calls the whole community for a further understandingand concern on these female elites, giving them more support and help create a moreequitable, easy and harmonious professional environment.
