| It is difficult to learn and master the Chinese language, especially for foreign primary learners. Consequently, the top priority in the teaching of Chinese to foreigners is to initiate and sustain their interest and passion, and meanwhile to create a relaxed and pleased study atmosphere for them. Vocabulary, as one of the four main factors of Chinese, is the basis and premise of communication in Chinese. As a result, vocabulary teaching plays quite an important role in the teaching of Chinese to foreigners. Among various methods of vocabulary teaching, game teaching is a popular one. On one hand, it gets rid of the traditional infusion teaching, creating a new situation for both teachers and students. On the other hand, it is an inevitable result of the fact that, Chinese is a second language for foreign learners. However, game teaching could not only damp down the learners’interest and passion for Chinese, but also arouse their conflict psychology and negative feelings, if it is applied inappropriately.This paper takes the primary Chinese vocabulary teaching in Philippines as a case, and focuses on both the volunteer teachers and their students there. By means of questionnaires, several effective activity forms of game teaching are summarized. |
