Throughout the process of teaching and learning Chinese, vocabulary teaching is the core element. This article analyses the study ability and difficulties that the intermediate Chinese learners have by discussing the word "Chi" in interest-oriented teaching strategy.Based on researches that many experts and scholars have done, this article summarizes the sense of "Chi", ravel out the word-build veins of "Chi" and clear up the different meanings of "Chi" more accurately. This article selects some phrases related to "Chi" and intensively strengthens the learners’memorization and application of the verb "Chi" by making scientific design of teaching content, objective and tasks, using the teaching approaches of direct, situational and immersion, improving the repetition rate. From the aspects of word, phrases, sentences and paragraphs, the article gives a full range of interpretation of "Chi". This article aims to increase the study interest of intermediate Chinese learners, deepen their understanding of Chinese language culture and to seek for new approaches of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in practice.The main body of this thesis is divided into three parts:In the introduction part, there is a brief introduction to the reasons for discussing this topic; discussion of the word "Chi" and the vocabulary teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, especially the current status of verb teaching; analysis of the theoretical and practical meaning of this research; determination of teaching objectives. From the above demonstrations, the author wants to make clear the necessity and feasibility of having this proposition.In the second part, the author demonstrates the stable position that "Chi" have in Chinese verbs from the aspect of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Giving an introduction to the different meaning of "Chi"; proving the uncompetitive advantage that "Chi" has in "figurativeness","regionalism","nationality" and "contemporaneity". Selecting the word "Chi" as the content in teaching research and explore the vocabulary teaching strategy is scientific and reasonable.In the third part of this article, the author discusses the teaching objectives and its basis, and then makes a full statement of teaching content and the reasonable explanation of teaching content. Besides, the author also introduces the teaching quantity of teaching instances to prove that by using "Chi" as the breakthrough key to open the door for Chinese learners to accumulate large number of vocabulary is feasible.In the conclusion part of this thesis, the author reviews the process of his study and at the meantime analyses the disadvantages of this thesis objectively. Due to the lack of teaching experience and the limitation of grasping of theories, this study definitely need to be discussed and improved in many ways. The author here will be modest, diligent, brave and creative in his future teaching practices, in order to make this study complete and perfect.
