The author have stayed in Bangkok from May2011to March2013for almost14months, after three semester’s work on teaching Chinese asa foreign language, the author have got a certain understanding onChinese spreading in Thailand, especially in Bangkok. In recent years,there are quite a lot foreign language teaching theory and practice havebeen published, but most of the work has no practicability and has noconcern about the influence of native language learners, which makes theteaching materials or references cannot achieve the ideal effect. Acountry’s national language policy, that is, from the national level offoreign language acceptance influenced the development of Chinese inthe country to a large extent. Through the teaching practice in Thailand,the author has studied language policy of this project, digging out somefresh things.Any country or society make language policy for some goals and itis inevitable to damage part of people’s interests. Language policy solvesthe contradiction between languages, but none of these policies is perfect.Southeast Asia’s language policy has been the core of scholars’ researchand Thailand has drawn much attention after several ups and downs forits Chinese education and concern. Thai government plays an importantrole in setting Chinese language policy, which is crucial for Chineselearning and propagating.In this paper, first chapter introduces the background, purpose andsignificance of this study. In the second chapter, the author discusses theexperts and scholars at home and abroad focus on language policyresearch. The third chapter analyzes the Thai language policy andThailand’s Chinese education policy. To Bangkok part, paper introducesthe status of Chinese teaching; introduces the primary school,middle school,college and the Confucius Institute of Chinese teaching. As formiddle school, the author investigated6middle schools at Bangkokparticularly and analyzes the data, based on the author’s teachingexperience at Pibool Uppathum School, which is the Beijing NormalUniversity Chinese Language Promotion Bangkok Base. In the last part,this paper puts forward Chinese in Bangkok area communicationproblems to be solved, in order to help Chinese promotion.
