A series of study on cancer pain were conducted, following the theories of TCMand clinical practice. The article includes the parts of theoretical and clinicalinvestigation. In theory, insufficiencv of Qi is the important intrinsic factor of the occurrence anddevelopment of the carcinoma: the stagnation of blood is also a important basicpathogenesis of this disease, has a close relationship with it, and runs through thecourse of the pain of carcinoma, lnsufficiency of Qi and the stagnation of blood arethe major pathogenesis of this disease, insufficiency of Qi is Ben. the stagnation ofblood is Biao. and they interact as both cause and effect. As the deficiency of vital Qigoes on, the blood vessel obstructs, and the stagnation of blood becomes more serious:on the contrary, the stagnation of blood hasn’t be removed, as the course of diseasegoes on, the vital Qi is more deficient. Therefore, the therapeutic principles for themoderate to serve cancer pain is supplementing Qi, promoting blood circulation toremove blood stasis. Based on it, the Yi Qi Hua Yu Decoction is built. And based onthe three-step analgesic ladder of cancer pain. the therapy is matched with MST.On the clinic. 38 cases of moderate to serve cancer pain patients were randomlydivided into therapy group (Chinese herbs combined with MST) and control group(MST only). The efficiencies of the therapy group and the control group are all94.74%. The pain release of the therapy group: CR,10.53%: PR, 52.63%; MR,31.58%:NC,5.26%;the pain release of the control group: CR.5.26%; PR,52.63%: MR. 36.84%:NC. 5.26%. There is no significant difference in the pain relief between the twogroups. The therapy group is superior to control group in improving clinicalsyndrome, rising quality of life and reducing side effects.Outcome shows that Yi Qi Hua Yu Decoction combined with MST is an effectivemethod in treating moderate to serve cancer pain. It can decrease toxic response, enhance clinical efficacy and improve the quality of life. Not only has the superiorityof this kind of TCM method been proved, but also has early preparation done tomanufacture pharmaceutics of the traditional Chinese medicine.
