Evaluation Of Urban Competitiveness In Beijing, Tianjin City Group

As the development of economic globalization, connection between countries is becoming more and more closely, at the same time, the competition between them is becoming more and more intense. With the accelerating process of urbanization, the influence of cities gradually expanded to urban agglomerations, which become the country’s important economic growth pole. Therefore, the competition between countries is gradually transformed into the competition between the urban agglomerations and cities.Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration, as one of the three urban agglomerations in our country, is one of the most active area in the north of China. Relying on its strategic location and resource advantages, its position is becoming more and more important. However, the cities in Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration develop uncoordinately, that bring about the lower competitiveness. So, evaluating the cities competitiveness in Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration is indispensable.Domestic and foreign scholars have made thousands of cases study and empirical analysis on urban agglomeration and city competitiveness, but not form a unified system. Most of these studies are established in their respective fields and background. In the studies of evaluation on city competitiveness is also mostly on a single city or a urban agglomeration, It is unusual yet evaluate the cities competitiveness in order to promote the integration development of urban agglomeration.Therefore, this paper is under this background. Firstly, the paper summarized the domestic and foreign existing researches, which focus on urban agglomeration and city competitiveness. By using the SWOT analysis method, the paper analyzes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threatens in Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration. Secondly referred to the domestic and foreign index system of city competitiveness, based on the development of Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration, this paper builds a new index system. This system contains5factors (economic strength, economic outward force, infrastructure protection force, public services force and sustainable development force) and27indexes. In addition, using the factor analysis method, this paper analyzes the cities competitiveness, in order to understand the advantages and characteristics of these cities in the5aspects. Finally, combined with the evaluation results, this paper suggests the approaches in future of integration development of Jing-jin-ji urban agglomeration.
