Earth simulator, which is an important ground test equipment for satellite that equipped with infrared earth sensor, is widely used for ground trials and tests or calibration to infrared earth sensor. Infrared earth sensitivity instrument demarcate test precision high or not will directly affect work precision of the planet. Based on the ground test needs of engineering prototype of small and long life DXX II infrared earth sensor, and the program of collimating earth simulator, a parallel moving hot plate earth simulator program was studied to solve the problems of performance test and demarcate precision before the earth sensor installed into satellite. This paper introduced the integer structure, the compose and based function of the earth simulator instrument, and particularly discussed the optical system, system errors and distortion correction of earth simulator. Based on the work principle of the earth sensor, the earth simulator parameters and two-dimensional translation mechanism parameters were selected reasonably to design the germanium collimation lens with ZEMAX software, which matched the two optical systems of earth sensor and earth simulator. Mathematica software was applied to get the parameters of earth diaphragm and earth hot plate combined with theoretical analysis and optical computing, which included the position and the size of earth diaphragm, as well as the earth hot plate. The accuracy of germanium collimation design was verified through calculation and analysis of light beam parallel misalignment and earth angles deviation. Finally, distortion correction for the optical system was made to develop a more realistic earth simulator, which provided design consideration for the research of earth simulator.
