As one major equipment for ground trials and tests or calibration to infrared earth sensitive, the earth simulator, which of overall accuracy will determine the calibration of infrared earth sensitive, and finally effects the precision of satellite in orbital running, can simulate earth's infrared characteristics on the surface in process of the spacecraft space simulation trail and calibration. For the key component of spin stabilization satellite-the spin scan infrared earth sensitive, this paper designes a small dual-purpose earth simulator.Through a thorough study in overall design for the infrared earth simulator, the overall design scheme is presented after the understanding of simulator principle. To analyze structure characteristics of earth simulator, the several important machine parts were detailed designed. To determine the rationality and the correctness on simulator, the solid model of the earth aperture and the optical modulation disk were analyzed with Ansys software, as adopted finite element analysis technique. The designed structure of earth simulator is verified by final results about the thermal deformation and the modal analysis.
