Qinshan nuclear power plant is suitated in Haiyan County in Jiaxing City and is50kilometers far from Jiaxing city. Qinshan nuclear power plant is China’s firstindigenously developed、designed and constructed nuclear power plant. The ratedpower of Phase1is300,000KW and was connected to power grid on December15,1991. The installed capacity of Qinshan Phase2project is2×600,000KW and itwas put into commercial operation on April15,2002. The installed capacity ofQinshan Phase3is2×728MW and two units respectively entered the commercialoperation on December31,2002and on July24,2003.This paper collected and sorted all the published environmental radiationmonitoring data around the Qinshan nuclear power plant after this projectstarted,including the environmental background investigation before construction、environmental radiation monitoring data around QNPP after Phase one project wascompleted and environmental radiation data around QNPP after Phase2and Phasethree were completed and other published relevant monitoring data on environmentalradiation for QNPP.By the analysis of all the relevant data, it comes to thefollowing conclusions:After QNPP is operated, the environmental radiation level and radioactivitylevel in this area still maintains the background level before its operation. There is nomuch effect on the environmental radiation around the station under normaloperation of nuclear power plant。The operation of the heavy water reactor in QNPPⅢ has lead to the increase ofTritium activity in the environment around key resident points, but the additionaldose the public exposed is still lower than the national standard。Average effective dose resulted from external exposure to local residents aroundQNPP is0.625mSv, annual effective dose arising from intake of artificialradionuclide90Sr and137Cs is0.943μSv, while internal exposure dose arising fromtritium release is0.097μSv。Meanwhile, based on the new requirements for the development of current environment monitoring, supplement and revise the existing environmental radiationmonitoring system around NPP, increase the radionuclide monitoring of farm productsand aquaculture products nearby, strengthen the construction of external exposurecontinuously monitoring system around QNPP and the measurement of tritiumconcentration in gaseous effluent on the downwind side,adjust and strengthen theradionuclide monitoring of drinking water source around NPP. This paper providesthe basis for taking effective measures, improving the environmental quality andpromoting the sustained and healthy economic development of Janxing.
