Poyang Lake is the largest fresh lake in China, also brings up the widest district audiences. Poyang Lake is beneficially adjustable to the Yangtze River water level storage. Poyang Lake Region becomes significant hinterland for the Nanchang-Jiujiang industrial corridor. Besides Poyang Lake Region is one of commodity basic grain production in China. As booming economy improvement of the Nanchang-Jiujiang industrial corridor goes on, population in Poyang Lakes hinterland is fast increasing. It will cause serious economic loss to society in case of sudden waterflood. In order to reduce waterflood loss effectively, it is necessary to make a research of Poyang Lake Region waterflood prevention information system by embracing advanced GIS technology with Computer programming. The research provides valid settlements in pre-waterflood disaster control, anti-waterflooding, statistics disaster loss afterward-waterflood.This article first introduces serious waterflood disaster and the necessity of waterflood prevention, meanwhile summarizes developing progress of waterflood prevention inland and abroad. The article also introduces the current situation of GIS application in waterflood prevention system contemporaneity. Then it detailly elaborates a series of anti-waterflood theory and technologies of Poyang Lake region waterflood prevention System based on GIS technology. After finishing system demand analysis and feasibility analysis, according to the GIS design structure and waterflood control and information system,the article describes overall design, functional design and database design detailedly, which is structured in Poyang Lake region waterflood prevention System based on GIS technology. Finally,We combine.NET IDE, Developer Express NET design plug-ins with ArcObject SDK released by ESRI, organize Poyang Lake Region database through ArcSDE with Oracle spatial database aiming at developing Poyang Lake Region flood prevention information system based on GIS technology. This System has functions of map editing operations, layout printing, geographical features manage, waterflood information updating, analysis of waterflood warning,3d submerged simulation, waterflood loss visualization and other useful functions.Application of Poyang Lake region waterflood prevention System based on GIS technology proves to be effectively providing rich waterflood datum support and information in the waterflood prevention task for the public. It also improves efficiency work, therefore has a professional practicality and wide promotion.
