SuiShiYiWen is an oral novel in Ming Dynasty. It is of great value for the study ofChinese in Ming Dynasty, because its age is comparatively exact, its edition iscomparatively reliable, its oral degree is comparatively high.The research methods in this paper include quantitative statistics, exhaustivedescription, and synchronic comparison.Based on the semantic characteristics mainly, we divide the494adverbs inSuiShiYiWen into9sub-categories: scope adverb, statistics adverb, frequency adverb,cumulative adverb, degree adverb, time adverb, negative adverb, modal adverb, situationand condition adverb. And we describe these adverbs exhaustively so as to reveal thegeneral appearance of the adverbs in SuiShiYiWen.This article examines and summarizes the basic characteristics of adverbs inSuiShiYiWen from four aspects: syllable feature, structure type, grammatical function andsuccessive application. From syllable featureļ¼Œthere are236single syllable adverbs,253disyllable adverbs and5three-syllable adverbs. From structural type, there are236simpleadverbs and258compound adverbs. The compound adverbs are divided into combinedtype and additional type. The combined type are divided into structure of coordination,structure of modification, V-O construction and other structures; the additional type onlyhas one form which is root with suffix, there are8suffixs: ran, hu, zi, sheng, er, di, ge, qi.From grammatical function, the adverbs in SuiShiYiWen mostly modify VP, secondly AP,thirdly S, a few modify NumP or NP. From successive application, the adverbs inSuiShiYiWen includes3types: successive application of two adverbs, successiveapplication of three adverbs, successive application of four adverbs. The position of theadverbs is flexible when they successively use, the position of situation and conditionadverb is the most flexible when successively use with all the other sub-category adverbs.This paper also selects the degree adverbs respectively from SuiShiYiWen andJinPingMeiCiHua to make a synchronic comparison between them.
