In recent years, Educational Bureau brings forward a new guidance; higher vocational education should make students have the ability to work. Therefore, the target of teaching reform in higher vocational colleges focus on how to make students to meet requirements of target job after learning subjects. Tour guide English is a skill training course based on comprehensive application ability. The goal of this course is to make students master English knowledge of English tour guide job, have ability to use tour guide English skillfully and have a overall qualities required by English tour guide. But the content and teaching methods of traditional curriculum just emphasis on language knowledge, ignoring the cultivation of students’ability and comprehensive quality. This study uses working process based theory to reform the content of curriculum and behavior-oriented teaching pattern to reform the teaching practice. Then check the results by contrary teaching experiment and explore effective ways to improve the tour English teaching.According to domestic and foreign study about working process based theory, this paper developed the working process based content of Tour Gide English and design the action-oriented teaching pattern. Then select two parallel classes that show no significant difference in the T test as experimental class and contrast class to carry out a contrary teaching experiment.The experimental class is taught working process based content with action oriented teaching pattern, while the contrast class was taught linguistic knowledge focused content with traditional instructing pattern. After the teaching experiment, get the data on theoretical knowledge examination, skill examination and questionnaire survey and analyze the data by SPSS1.90. The analysis and experimental results show the following conclusions:the working process of the "tour guide English" course content and action-oriented teaching can improve students occupational ability; Based on working process course content and action oriented teaching can improve students’learning interest. Action oriented teaching has no obvious effect in helping students to master knowledge of English to students. |
