| English writing as one of five basic skills of English learning is becoming more and more important since writing accounts for a larger proportion in College Entrance Examination.However,at present,a great number of teachers still pay much attention to students’ writing product and ignore the writing process.At the same time,the majority of teachers are always employing a kind of writing teaching model,that is,“Teacher analyzes the model composition and arranges the task;students finish it after class and hand it in;teacher revises the composition and assesses it”.Gradually,students lose interest and confidence in writing and even get tired of and are afraid of it.Therefore,in order to arouse students’ interest and confidence in writing,the researcher makes an action research on the implementation of the product-process oriented approach which combines the respective merits of the product-oriented approach and process-oriented approach.Generally speaking,it mainly includes three stages,namely,pre-writing,while-writing and post-writing.At length,some activities like the analysis of model composition,outlining,brainstorming belong to the process of pre-writing.As for while-writing,it deals with writing the first draft,peer-revise and writing the second draft.In terms of the post-writing,some activities like teacher’s assessment of each one’s composition,teacher’s general feedback of the whole class and the presentation of model composition for appreciation and recitation should be covered.The research was carried out in a class for senior one of one common senior high school in Zhejiang Province.It lasted about one semester.There are 45 participants all from the same class taught by the researcher.Besides,their written drafts,pre-test,post-test,pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire were carefully collected,organized and analyzed.Through the careful analysis of data,the researcher drew the conclusion that the product-process oriented approach exerts positive effects on the writing ability of senior high school students.In detail,firstly,students’ attitudes towards English writing have been greatly changed and they have become more interested and confident in English writing.Moreover,students’ writing ability has been greatly improved,which mainly reflects on the improvement of students’ language,contents,grammar and handwriting. |
