Practice Report Of The Simultaneous Interpretation Of Marine English

It is significantly important to enhance and improve the relevant law of the seabecause the oceans are significantly important. They are the highway for90%of theworld’s trade by volume. Also, they are enormously important source of food for theworld in terms of fisheries. However, some issues occurred in the oceans, such aspiracy, fisheries management, maritime terrorism, IUU fishing (illegal, unreported,and unregulated), and environmental issues and so on. China has short history inmaritime protection and management with little experience. Hence, it would be betterto learn foreign experience and practice.This is a report about simultaneous interpreting of a video lecture under a realcondition. Simultaneous interpretation, for the lecture interpreted by the author duringthe mock lecture, is regarded as the research subject. Comments on the simulation ofsimultaneous interpretation have been given by the supervisor after the translationfinished. After that, the author collated and summarized the text after writing downthe source text and the simultaneous text, and then translated it into Chinese. Thereport is mainly devoted to exploring preparations before interpreting, difficulties insimultaneous interpretation for the law of the sea, and providing coping tactics andski11s of the difficulties. Hoping to enhance the standard of interpreting as well asimprove the ability to handle the difficulties in simultaneous.This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the backgroundinformation and significance of the task, as well as the demand of interpreters in thetask. The second chapter is about the description of preparations before Interpreting,quality control and comments on the interpreting. The third chapter is a generalintroduction of methodology combined with practical interpreting. The fourth chapteranalyzes the problems and challenges the author met during the simultaneous,classified them into different parts and analyzed the reasons. The fifth chapter elaborates the conclusion which the author summarized limitations and shortcomingsand inspiration for future learning and work.However, since this report is based on video lecture, a particular form, the authorhad plenty of time to prepare before the simulation of simultaneous interpreting.Meanwhile, the author spent three days to complete three videos interpreting.Therefore, the form of this unconventional interpretation task has certain limitations,so has the analysis of this report.
