Translation Strategies Of Economic Documents From English To Chinese In The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Translators are constantly faced with many choices, such as the choice of translation strategies and standards, which exert great impact on the quality of the translated text. This time, a luxury industry analysis was chosen for study, falling into the category of economic documents. Like other pragmatic texts, the aim of economic documents is to transmit information. The skopos theory proposes the principle of "the end justifies the means", which provides an idea of how to do translation. According to this theory, translation is no longer a static linguistic phenomenon but an act of intercultural communication linking language function, text type, communication purpose and strategy, which is of instructive significance in the translation of economic documents. Based on the translation of Luxury "Red Bull": A Sequel, this thesis analyses specific examples concerning word choice, sentence structure, and language style. Hopefully, this thesis can draw some conclusions about translation strategies as food for future translation practice of ecomonic documents.
