Interpreting from B language into A language is widely considered to be the mostnatural direction. However, due to the shortage of native English-speaking interpreters whounderstand Chinese, most of the Chinese-English interpreting work is done by nativeChinese-speaking interpreters. Unlike the majority of western language interpreters whoonly need to interpret into their mother tongue, Chinese interpreters are required tointerpret both into their A language and B language. When interpreting into B language, interpreters are faced with a unique set of challenges resulted from language competenceand cultural gap. This paper aims to specifically address the logic issue that occurs in Chinese toEnglish consecutive interpreting. The handling of logic can greatly influence the accuracy, fluency and listenability of the interpreted version. Though improving B languageproficiency is the most fundamental approach to conquer the challenges in A to Binterpreting, research in the perspective of interpreting skills and technics can also helppoint out ways by which interpreters can improve the logic of their delivery. Bycategorizing logic errors occurred in real-time interpreting practices, analyzing theirrespective reasons and proposing feasible coping tactics, this paper hopefully will helpnative Chinese-speaking interpreters to better handle the logic in Chinese to Englishinterpreting.
