The continuous development of Chinese and foreign exchange has stimulated the booming of the foreign-related hotel industry. The English translation of hotel profiles is the most direct way for the foreign guests to understand the foreign-related hotel’s qualities of facilities and service. Therefore, the impartial and professional translation of hotel profile will be conducive to the transmission of the hotel’s information to the foreign guests and the realization of its publicity function.The translation of foreign-related hotel profile belongs to discourse translation, and the discourse can be divided into different types and functions. The type and function of the discourse will be taken into first consideration when we adopt the translation strategies. Therefore, by means of case study, this thesis is aimed at discussing the English translation of foreign-related hotel profiles from the perspective of discourse.The study indicates that the foreign-related hotel introduction belongs to informative and vocative discourse and it has the informative and vocative functions. The analysis of the profile’s discourse types and functions can help the translator get a comprehensive understanding of the author’s writing purposes and select the effective translating strategies. Through analyzing lots of foreign-related hotel profiles, the thesis compares and summarizes the discrepancies between the Chinese and Western hotel profiles in language, culture and discourse style. Then the thesis generalizes the linguistic, cultural and functional problems existed in the English introduction of the foreign-related hotel, simultaneously, some translating strategies are suggested.
