The Translation Report For Work Report On People’s Government Of Shanxi Province In2012

Government work reports, political essays with politics as the core, involve significant aspects like policies, principles, interests of the state and local government. Local government work reports, as typical political text, has common features of all political documents, like formal and objective text with less exaggeration and adjectives, more verbs and more paralleled structure, sentences without subjects and so on.Based on the translated text of Work Report on People’s Government of Shanxi Province in2012finished by myself, I composed the translation report. With the summary of style and language features of the text, this report focuses on ways of choosing appropriate translation techniques, finding feasible translation strategy, and posing relevant suggestions on other problems. This report is mainly to achieve practical experience of this translation project, so as to provide concrete operations for similar translation practices.This paper mainly includes four parts:the first part introduces the source of the project and its style and language features; the second part describes the preparation before interpretation and reviser work; the third analyses this peoject from the two aspects of difficulties and strategies of translation. First this report is full of objective and rigorous political languages and use four-character words, acronym, etc. which follows rule of simplicity and "repetition", parallelism, etc. which follows complication, Then, it put forward several translation strategies to deal with kinds of languages phenomena, like literal translation plus annotation to political acronmy, free translation to four-character words, multi-predicate sentences transformed into parallelism sentences, etc. The fourth gives a summary of the translation experience.
