Study Of The KhITan Large Script Epitaph Of"Dahengzhang Jiedu Fushi"

The Khitan were an ancient nomadic in the northern grassland, in10th century. Khitan Large Script and Khitan Small Script are two kinds of scripts which created by Khitan in order to record Khitan language. According to historical materials, Yclii Abaoji(阿保机) created the Khitan largc script with the assistance of Yclii Tulvbu(耶律突吕不)and Yelii LuBugu(耶律鲁不古)in5th year of the Shence(神册)reign of Emperor Taizu of the Liao dynasty. Khitan Small Script created by Emperor Taizus younger brother Yelii Diela(耶律迭剌),the creative year of the Khitan Small Script is unclear. After the collapse of Liao Dynasty, the both systems were kept used until2nd year of the Mingchang (明昌)reign of Emperor Zhangzong (章宗)of the Jin dynasty. Nowdays, there were near60epitaphic materials and around80thousand words had been discovered, which written in the Khitan Large Script and the Khitan Small Script. Most of them were an inscription of emperor and empress or aristocracies and court ministers.The Epitaph of "Dahengzhang Jiedu Fushi"(大横帐节度副使墓志)is a very precious Khitan Large Script document, with more words, neater writing and well preserved, that selected in this paper. Secondly, the tomb owner Yelu Xinie(耶律习涅)is sixth generation children of Yelu Lubugu, who take part in the creation of the Khitan Large Script. So, these referenced Chinese records are more and detailed. Then, the Chinese Epitaph of "Dahengzhang Jiedu Fushi", that may provides many useful information for this study. In the word, it can not only improve the reading level of this epitaph, also can promote the reading process of whole Khitan Large script, that through make-on systematic arrange and study of this epitaph.This study based on the former accomplishment, moreover, utilized collation and comparative method to conduct inspection for the Khitan Large Script epitaph of "Dahengzhang Jiedu Fushi" centered relative Khitan Large and Small Script. And also utilize of the "Database of Documents in the Khitan Large Scrip", and made a good try on suffix of Khitan language. This paper consists of three parts, which preface, main text and appendix. In the preface, mainly introduce the selected basis and research status; in the first chapter mainly introduce the basic situation of the epitaph; in the second chapter, had finished the electronic book paper and the collation of the epitaph, overhead sorted out the relevant materials; the third chapter, investigation into from the national title and reign title of Liao Dynasty, at the same time, had touched the grammatical categories of Khitan static word and verb. Appendix constitute by the reference and the acknowledgement.In this paper, the author through on-the-spot investigation and completed the collation of the selected epitaph; and put forward own views to the national title and reign title of Liao Dynasty; moreover, based on the exploration of primary documents and comparative study of numerous works, had deciphered some Khitan Large Script. It is most important that made a helpful attempt to the grammar of Khitan language.
